The Batten Spoon
This small tea spoon is made of teak wood, salvaged from the SSV Robert C. Seamans, in Auckland, NZ. It’s made from a broken piece of rat board that lived between between the shrouds. It has prominent grain lines with with industrial scars.
Hand carved and one-of-a-kind.
Measure approximately 7 inches long from end to end with a bowl width of 1 1/4 inches.
Surface is sanded smooth and finished with a beeswax, coconut oil, and walnut oil wood conditioner.
This is a small spoon, ideal for use with a tea or coffee. Both rustic and refined, the piece of wood has weathered years up in the ship’s rigging and has endured thousands of nautical miles. It’s withstood many storms and now gets a second life as a functional kitchen tool.
