The Joy Of Carving
The Joy Of Carving
The Joy of Carving is a craft experience designed to help participants slowdown for the sake of spoon carving. Participants focus on the tactile exploration of wood as a creative medium, learning carving techniques to shape one’s work into functional art. The workshop covers everything from wood selection, spoon designs, finishing oils, along with knife, blade and carving techniques so participants can experience the joy of creating their own hand-carved kitchen tool. Wood and carving tools are provided.
The Joy of Carving started out as group workshop where would-be carvers could attend weekend classes and over the course of several hours, learn the art of spoon carving. After class, participants would head home with a new hobby and a new kitchen tool. Unfortunately, Covid-19 has canceled all my group workshops for 2020 however, I am offering small versions for groups of two in my local area. Luckily, spoon carving is an activity that is well adapted to the outdoors and I am able to continue to offer classes in a way that prioritizes personal health and safety. This service provides a creative outlet for those seeking safe activities during the pandemic.
