Sailing into the Season: A Holiday Greeting from New Zealand
Ahoy friends, and welcome aboard this holiday blog post! As we approach the most wonderful time of the year, I wanted to take a moment to wish each and every one of you a joyous, healthy, and heartwarming holiday season. Whether you're nestled by a cozy fireplace or savoring a sunny beach somewhere, I hope your days are filled with laughter and love.
In the spirit of celebrating this magical season, I have my latest carving to share with you from the South Pacific. This year, work took me to the shores of New Zealand, where I’ve been on yet another sailing journey. Amidst all the cooking and baking with the sway of the boat, I’ve also been crafting and carving my Secret Santa (aka Secret Sailor) gift!
Obviously, a holiday celebration wouldn't be complete without the exchange of heartfelt gifts, so I set to work on some hand carved chopsticks! It’s been a while since I’ve made a pair but as always, the smooth wood in my hands reminds me of the warmth and comfort that always come from engaging in this tactile craft.
I hope you are enjoying this holiday season- the joy of giving, the beauty of creating things, and the sense of wonder that is often present this time of year. And so, as I extend my warmest wishes to you and your loved ones, I hope that your holiday season is filled with the same sense of crafty contentment as you wrap gifts, create meals, and find the spirit of the season that’s as bright as the Southern Cross!
I’m wishing you the happiest of holidays and a healthy new year from the land of the long white cloud.
Fair winds my mates! I’ll be back soon with classes and carving kits and lots of fun stuff to kick off 2024. Till then here’s a peek at my Secret Sailor gift. Comment below to let me know if I should make a few more for the shop.
